81: If you report news, avoid taking side. If you analyze news, you can condemn or take side

- Tips For Blogging

Some bloggers forget the difference between when they are reporting and when they are giving analysis of an event. While reporting, say what happened and don’t give judgment. If a Policeman kicked a woman, say that a policeman kicked a woman. Not that a policeman abused a woman.
If however you are giving analysis of the event, you may give your own opinion and say it was an abuse and then condemn the policeman. Did you report the circumstances that forced the policeman to kick the woman? That could give further clues.
Don’t say that “North Korea is evil” as a state, say what they did that made them evil. Leave the judgment to readers, unless your personal opinion was required.
